Bursaries
At St Michael’s, we recognise that there are children who would thrive within our community but whose families may find it difficult, or even impossible, to meet the full cost of school fees. The Governors have long been committed to supporting families of more modest means, and this commitment remains a central part of our ethos today. To ensure that our limited bursary funds are allocated fairly and transparently, all applicants are required to complete a detailed bursary application form.
All bursary awards are means-tested and assessed on an individual basis. A range of factors are taken into consideration, including household income, the value of assets, and essential living expenses.
Through our bursary provision, we aim to make a St Michael’s education accessible to deserving pupils who will contribute positively to our school community and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
Criteria for a Bursary
All bursaries are means-tested and assessed on an individual basis. Factors considered include household income, the value of assets and essential living expenses.
Eligibility for a bursary is based not only on financial need but also on the following criteria:
- The prospective pupil meets the academic requirements for the appropriate year of entry;
- The prospective pupil demonstrates a willingness to engage fully in all aspects of school life;
- The parents, the pupil, and the Head agree that attendance at St Michael’s will be a positive and beneficial experience for the child;
All bursary awards are reviewed annually and are subject to the school’s terms and conditions.
